How it's
constructed

Top-down, seamless — no sewing required

01
Collar & yoke

Begin at the neckline with a short 1×1 rib collar. Work the raglan yoke flat first, then join to work in the round. Increases are placed at four raglan lines.

02
Separate sleeves

At the underarm, sleeve stitches are placed on hold. The body continues in the round. This keeps the construction clean and avoids complicated joins.

03
Body texture

The waffle stitch pattern begins after separation. It repeats over 4 rows and creates the characteristic cozy texture without requiring chart reading.

04
Sleeves & finish

Pick up sleeve stitches and work each sleeve top-down to the cuff. Finish with a ribbed hem. Block lightly to open the texture and set the shape.

What we recommend

Best pick
Merino Bulky

100% merino wool in bulky weight. Soft against the skin, holds the waffle texture beautifully, and comes in a wide range of natural tones.

Budget option
Superwash Blend

A merino/acrylic blend in bulky weight. Machine washable, widely available, and more affordable. Good for a first knit.

Luxury pick
Cashmere Mix

A cashmere blend gives an exceptionally soft finish and beautiful drape. Best for experienced knitters as it requires more careful handling.
